Like any mean prizefighter, it's admirable from afar.AV ClubMay 22, 2017
It's a spare, brutal, well-crafted prison drama, anchored by an at-turns wildly aggressive and hauntingly vulnerable lead performance by Green Room's Joe Cole.VarietyMay 22, 2017
A big, bleeding feat of extreme cinema, given elevating human dimension by rising star Joe Cole's ferociously physical lead performance.Sight and SoundJuly 19, 2018
The routines and rituals of prison life and the boxers' training regime create an almost hypnotic spectacle, defined by the give and take of sparring body shots and repeatedly massaged limbs. The National (UAE)July 19, 2018
There's no medal for enduring this gruelling cinematic encounter... but you'll be glad you did.Independent (UK)July 19, 2018
It's a full-blown method-style performance. We don't question its authenticity for a moment.Daily Telegraph (UK)July 19, 2018
Cole... plays Moore with a clamped-down, concentrated ferocity: the character is no roguish anti-hero, but a frantic knot of sinew, to whom we don't relate so much as just cling onto for dear life.GuardianJuly 19, 2018
This is grisly, visceral, often unwatchably brutal stuff: what seems like a moment-by-moment depiction of an unspeakable ordeal.Financial TimesJuly 18, 2018
The viewer feels he is there with the cellmates and Hell-mates, a tabula rasa innocent abroad flung in among the tattooed and indigenous. The ListJuly 16, 2018
There's finesse in the filmmaking, colour and conviction in the supporting performances... but it's Cole that really sells it, by making you feel like he's living every single horrible second.Movie NationJuly 13, 2018
