Since my early teens, I honestly can't remember a day that I didn't listen to a Pink Floyd/Gilmour/Rogers/Mason or even a Wright album. Now, The Wall was never my favorite(though it did have some of their greatest songs), and, I believe, paled in comparison to DSOTM, WYWH, or even Animals or The Division Bell. There was, however, a disturbing, yet strangely beautiful sense of urgency and desperation (which IS the English way, you know) throughout the album. I am sad to say that that was lost through this adaptation into film. Along with that, THE MUSIC! Being the main appeal of this movie, you'd think it would be better quality, and DAD GUM someone get Roger back on vocals, Pink was atrocious! Highlights of this movie are limited to ONLY the parts where they used the album versions of the songs! I did very much enjoy The Trial, but if I were you, just go and listen to the actual album, it's a much better occupier of the time of your's and mine.

"Do you think they'll drop the Bomb?" asks a loaded musical question at one irresistibly funny point. Obviously, they've already dropped it, and it's called "The Wall."

Parker's visual synthesis with the music, much aided by Scarfe's rip-roaring visions of doom and destruction which turn light into darkness at the flick of a pen rather than a switch, is almost perfect.

Nothing is put together for you, but all the pieces of the puzzle are there for you to create what you want. It's refreshing to see a movie that is completely out of the box, and doesn't follow any present forumla. THE WALL is a great rock opera.

A stunning portrayal of a slide from isolation into madness. And the music rocks, too--bonus.
